225-hole Challenge-

As you might be aware, 2026 will be Marston Lakes Golf Club’s silver jubilee.  25 years of golf, laughs and friendships.  To commemorate this anniversary, the golf club have a number of new and exciting events lined up, one of which is an endurance to test even the most athletic of players.  Long standing members and both former golf shop employees, Dan Parsons and Simon Dainter (now professional at Drayton Park Golf Club) will take on playing 25 rounds of golf or 225 holes in just 2 days.  This isn't just a test of a golf swing; it’s a gruelling "ultra-marathon" of the mind, body, and spirit.  All funds raised will be split 50/50 between two causes close to their hearts:

Marston Lakes Golf Club: Supporting the continued development of the club, both on and off the course, to ensure it remains a premier destination for golfers for the next 25 years, raising further funds for numerous local charities and local communities.

• Dementia Caring: A vital charity providing fun activities, socialization, and a sense of purpose for those living with dementia in South Staffordshire, Lichfield, and Tamworth. They also provide essential respite and peer support for the incredible carers in our community.

While the Lakes course may lack the 7,000-yard footprint of an 18-hole championship course, the math of 225 holes remains staggering.

  • The Repetition: To hit their target, Dan and Simon must complete the 9-hole loop 25 times.

  • The Distance: Each loop is approximately 2,050 yards. When you factor in the "zig-zag" of chasing a ball and the transit between tees, the pair will likely cover over 40 miles on foot. That is nearly a marathon and a half across undulating terrain.

  • The Volume: Level par for the 25 rounds will be 750.  An average of 4 shots per hole will see the pair hitting more than 900 shots.

  • Yellow Ball: The lads plan to see how far they can get a yellow ball round each day.  Playing alternate holes, the challenge will be to not find one of the lakes.  If anyone would like to suggest which hole they think the yellow ball will be lost on, please contact Dan and he will keep a list of everyone’s guess.  A prize will be given to the closest guess each day.

To achieve this incredible feat, Dan and Simon’s schedule looks less like a sporting event and more like a military operation.  The golf for day one is 113 holes.  To achieve this the pair will be on the first tee as the sun begins to peek over the Warwickshire horizon, likely around 5am.  Aiming to complete the 9-hole loop every 60 minutes, they will spend over 12 hours in constant motion.  Food, drinks and snacks all taken whilst on the move.  The second day is where the challenge moves from the legs to the head.  By the time the pair see the sunrise on day two, they will once again be underway, but this time with slightly stiffer backs, tender hands and aching legs.  However, they’ll still be facing another 112 holes and a further 450+ shots.

A challenge of this magnitude requires a community. You can support Dan and Simon on their incredible journey by visiting their JustGiving page (link below) or come and give them a cheer on one the days.  The 25-round challenge will take place on Tuesday 23rd & Wednesday 24th June.

Dan and Simon will keep everyone up to date with their progress throughout the two-day challenge via Instagram and Dan will add a new blog on the Tuesday evening, halfway through the challenge.
